The Horror of Time

As a special Halloween Treat, I’m posting an article formerly available only on the late Zelda Blog for your entertainment. Enjoy!

Toon Link. This entity has been a mysterious addition to the Zelda Universe, boggling the minds of millions with its very existence. Its cute, cell-shaded structure, its large, hypnotic eyes…it is a creature unlike any other. At one point Young Link was considered to be one of the most annoying and irritating of the Link species, but since the creation of Toon Link, all doubts have been put to rest as to which Link possesses the power of ultimate aggravation.

Chugga Chugga Wii Wii?

As I read about Spirit Tracks and its impending release, I remembered how all of us in the online Zelda community reacted when we first heard that Link would have the option of riding on a train. We felt, among many things: outrage, confusion, bewilderment, curiosity, and excitement. I thought about the Zelda Wii concept art that stirred us all up, and then I had a somewhat horrifying thought: what if what we find in Spirit Tracks is expounded upon in Zelda Wii?

Funniest Screenshot Contest!

I don’t know about you readers, but how often have you been playing a video game of any kind, and you pause it at JUST the right time, and on your screen is the most hilarious thing? Or perhaps when you can name a character or NPC (non-player character), you give it a funny name, or something to make another NPC say something funny? Bigger DSi

According to Japanese news, there is a new DSi that is set to be launched by the end of the year in Japan. It will basically host a bigger screen, with sources suggesting it will have  4 inch screens. The current DSi model screens are 3.25 inches across in comparison to 3.8 inches for the PSPgo and 4.3 inches for the PSP-3000. This means we’d pretty much have a PSP sized version of the DSi.

Apparantly it is a response to the iPhone as opposed to the PSP, and is expected to cost around 18,900 yen ($205 USD), which actually is the same as the current models.

Nintendo are currently considering releasing this new DSi internationally. There’s no official comment on that yet so lets see what Nintendo of America have to say later.

Some Zelda Updates

First off, ZREO has come up with another song. It’s Nayru’s theme from Oracle of Ages, a song I personally had almost forgotten all about but which had me remember it all of a sudden as I started listening. It’s quite nice, so head on over to ZREO yourselves to listen to it as well.

The Legend of…Link’s Distractions?

For all of us who have played Zelda games for years, we are all too familiar with the concept of pointless minigames and sidequests. Throughout the years, many attempts have been made to satirize and skewer this aspect of our beloved games, however, nothing really gets it quite as accurately as “The Legend of Link’s Distractions” video on College Humor. This one is quite short, and the reason that it’s not included with the next one is that the next one appears to be the end of book one, so the translation team is hard at work making sure that it is perfect!
