Happy 10th Birthday to Us!

You did, in fact, read correctly: Today, November 21st, 2009 is officially Legendofzelda.com’s 10th Anniversary! Now, you are probably curious how we plan to commemorate this special event. Here’s what we’ve got planned.

You may have first noticed that the site looks exactly the same. Don’t go searching, you won’t find anything – yet! Apart from this announcement, there is NOTHING indicating that we are celebrating our 10th. Don’t be disappointed though, because we don’t plan to only celebrate our 10th today. No. This entire coming year, from today until November 21st, 2010, we will be celebrating our 10th year online, because until we reach 11, it’s still 10! We plan to celebrate this in a variety of ways, and it wouldn’t be very exciting if we told you now, would it?

So in other words, keep visiting every day to see what cool new stuff we’ve posted, to post on our forums, and most of all, to see what we’re doing to celebrate our very special anniversary! Think of this post as the calm before the storm. ;)

It’s All in the Numbers

As Abyss Master reported yesterday, Eiji Aonuma told us that things would be different for the Legend of Zelda series with the release of the Zelda Wii. Just to refresh everyone, here’s what he said: “[...] we have been trying something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version of the new Zelda game this time.” In other words, we potentially have a lot more in store for us than trains and new evil masterminds.

Aonuma About Zelda Wii

Good ol’ Eiji Aonuma, known for being involved with games such as Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, is the next developer to say a few words about the alread-highly-anticipated Zelda title for the Wii.

Timeline Enthusiasts, Look!

Does the Zelda Timeline just tickle your fancy? I mean, I know it’s a convoluted piece of squid, but does that not matter to you? If you can honestly say that the timeline is interesting at all to you, then you should read this article from our affiliate, Zelda Universe! The article is a great read, despite its vast length. It’s the kind of article that really gets you thinking about Zelda, and makes for great discussion. Kudos to them!

Also, be sure to check out the Zelda Wiki, the link for which can be found under “Main Features”, as there have been some changes recently! As a Wiki Staff, we decided to separate “Community” articles from all others, and so now there is so much more room for us to create articles about the online Zelda community. If you go and make an account on the Wiki, you can start editing and writing articles right away. You can even create your own user page and mark the article as part of LoZ.com’s Community! For more information on how to do that, visit this forum topic. Hope to see you there!

Spirit Tracks: More Than We Thought?

I saw this video posted at our affiliate, ZeldaInformer and decided to give it a watch myself.

After doing so, I suddenly realized that we were all very silly to judge Spirit Tracks as stupid or silly based on the cartoon style and the train concept itself. Why? Read on.

BBC iPlayer On Wii

Just a very short and quick piece of news. Those of you in the UK I have no doubt know about the BBC iPlayer. Those who don’t know, it is just a web player that streams videos on demand so people can catch shows that they’ve missed on television. Whilst PS3 and Xbox 360 have had their solutions developed now, people who tried to use iPlayer off the Wii browser were experiencing problems. Nintendo now presents to you a BBC iPlayer Channel, free for download. It is only available to UK Wii owners with broadband.

Spanish plumbing association recognizes 28 years of Koopa abuse and Goomba stomping

Our favourite plumber friend Mario has earned himself a silver medal from ASEFOSAM, Spain’s professional plumbers association, for 28 years of cute and cuddly creature crushing, princess rescuing and of course, plumbing. The award comes at a convenient time, the release of New Super Mario Bros Wii not too far away, Sunday the 15th for the Yanks, the 20th for the Europeans and, in a rare twist, out now in Australia.

Alright, three cheers for Mario, Hip Hip, Hooray!

The 11th Hour…

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, today, November 11th, 2009, is Veterans Day here in the United States. Formerly known as Armistice Day, and still known as such in some countries around the world, celebrates the day that fighting ceased in Europe back in 1918. Also known as Remembrance Day, it does not mark the formal conclusion of the war, as the Treaty of Versailles had yet to be drafted and signed, but the fighting was done as Armistice had been signed.

I figured that since we here at Legendofzelda.com hope to reach an audience not just within the borders of the United States, but as well as people from across the pond in Europe, or Africa, or on the other side of the world in Asia, or Australia, and even down south in Central and South America, we should observe this holiday that truly resonates with everyone. In that spirit, we here at LoZ wish everyone a safe holiday, and hope that in the future, every day can be an Armistice day.

Fireside Chat with Xizor, Part Deux

Well, it’s been a while since I last did this, and given that it was the first one, I’m not sure anyone really looked forward to another one, though I promised one. However, the Fireside Chat returns, and in it I have some various news to bring you, along with the much needed insight that, without which, you would be hopelessly lost! So read on and see what you’ve been missing (or for some of you, living) in the recent past regarding the community in general and the following sites: Gerudo Valley, Exploding Deku Nut, Zelda Reorchestrated, and more!

Link Keller – The Silent Hero

Any real fan of the Zelda Franchise knows that Link is silent, but deadly. Not a sound emanates from him until the moment that his enemy is slain (at which point he lets out the classic “hy-ah!”). Otherwise, he never has anything to say. Saria is asking him what to do? No answer. Zelda is telling him what to do? No answer. Never anything to say. Why is this? Is he just shy? Or is there a more significant reason than that?
