It sheds some light on the storyline and characters, but unfortunately this will be lost on you if you don't speak Japanese; as well as this, it gives us some more gameplay shots of the platforming aspect, and the FPS aspects of the game.

Have to say, it looks good

I'm excited to see the relationship between Samus and Adam in this game, considering how big of an influence he seems to have been to her, since she has a computer program designed after him in Metroid Fusion.

Well, Gameinformer got their hands on a playable demo of this, and they said that gameplay is ok, but the missile firing sucks. Apparently you HAVE to go first person, and there is no movement in first person, so you get hit. Lots.

And this trailer was absolutely pointless for me. I thought I might at least get a little out of it, but no. (Obviously I don't speak Japanese)

I'm honestly, really, REALLY skeptical about this game. The 2D games are awesome, the 3D games are awesome, that doesn't mean mixing the two together will be doubly awesome, and the idea of having a heavy emphasis on combat doesn't sit well with me. Metroid, even when an FPS, is still all about exploring. That's the main reason Fusion has fallen in my mind, it restricts you. Too linear. If this new game doesn't have just as much or more to find hidden away in every possible location, including ways to cheat the system and skip sections, (I'm talking Super Metroid style wall jump here) I'll stab them in the face for taking a dump on one of my favorite series.

Super Metroid wall jumping was ridiculously cheap. I liked how they fixed that in Fusion, but they also fucked it up by making it linear.

I'm sure there will be plenty of exploration.

It's 'cheap', but it's awesome because once you master it, it opens up the sequence to be broken beyond imagining. I love sequence breaking, I even took advantage of a glitch with Ocarina of Time to do the Childhood dungeons in reverse order without a sword. And it was a blast.

Super Metroid is awesome because you can practically play it in whichever order you wish. You get to use everything at your disposal, including wall jumping, to explore as you please. There's always the set path that you can follow if you wish, but if you feel like changing things up, you can. I didn't mind the absence of wall jump in Prime because it was first person, but with the third person title, if it's missing I'll probly never even play it.

I've also heard that there is going to be a theater mode once you beat the game, that compiles all the cutscenes (and some sampled gameplay) into one 2 hour movie. Full article here.
